‘General Hospital’ news: Thaao Penghlis reprises his role as Victor Cassadine

There is a Cassadine making his way back to Port Charles and it’s not Stefan or even Stavros. According to Soaps In Depth on December 9, Thaao Penghlis will be returning to “General Hospital” in the role of Victor Cassadine.

Victor was last seen on screen back in the early 80’s at the height of the Luke and Laura hoopla. The character didn’t actually die so he will not be returning from the dead which Penghlis explains after the announcement was made.

“If you knew the history, he was the only one who survived and went to prision.”

Head writer Ron Carlivati, a huge “General Hospital” fan before writing for the show, certainly knows the history and has no problem tapping into that history to advance current storylines. Expect Victor to cause havoc in Port Charles around the end of January with revenge on his mind. It may not just be Luke that he will be after.

Thaao Penghlis is best known in the soap world as Tony DiMera on “Days Of Our Lives”, but originated the role of Victor Cassadine in 1981, which started his soap opera acting career.
