Right off the heels of “General Hospital” being renewed, head writer Ron Carlivati got some good news of his own. According to Soap Opera Digest on Jan. 23, Carlivati has signed a new contract with the show.

Carlivati, who came to “General Hospital” after a stint with “One Live To Live” tweeted the good news:

“I just signed a new contract! So happy to be staying with @ABCNetwork & @GeneralHospital!”

With the current revival of the show, the news is not shocking. Although viewers might not be too happy about current storylines, Carlivati will get the chance to wrap up storylines and transition those characters into new story lines.

Since taking over the head writing duties, Ron Carlivati has dipped into the show’s rich history and he hasn’t stopped there. He has also dipped into the history of some of ABC’s previous soaps. Recently he has reverenced “Loving” and has also linked the character of Delia Ryan from “Ryan’s Hope” to Ava Jerome. And of course the show has given a nod to cancelled spinoff soap, “Port Charles”.

Are you happy with Ron Carlivati sticking around? Or would you like to see the show take in a new direction?
