'General Hospital': Michael Easton addresses status on show

Since Prospect Park announced that "All My Children" and "One Life To Live" would be returning with all new episodes in the Spring, questions have risen about what would happen to the three "OLTL" characters that "moved" to "General Hospital" earlier this year. Would Starr and Todd Manning (played by Kristen Alderson and Roger Howarth) and John Mc Bain (played by Michael Easton) have to move to the online version of "One Life to Live" and leave "General Hospital?"

When Daytime TV Examiner spoke with "GH" executive producer Frank Valentini earlier this month, he wasn't ready to talk about the details. "Can't really talk about that right now," Valentini said about the situation. "But we [Prospect Park and ABC] are trying to work things out and figure out what's going to be best for both shows."

It seems that the speculation about the characters leaving "General Hospital" are true. Easton posted a statement on his official Facebook page confirming everyone's suspicions.

I heard a rumor of some lovely people who were going to stop by the studio for a certain riff raff's birthday. Some others who wanted to deliver a cake. Even more wonderful folks who wanted to send cards and treats and I want you to know I am incredibly humbled by these gestures but unfortunately I will not be around to enjoy them. I've been informed, that due to some ongoing legal this and that, I cannot be at "General Hospital" after February 8th and since I know many of you go to great trouble to do something special, I just don't want to see anybody's efforts go to waste (especially the lovely person who always sneaks in the fine Irish Whiskey). If it's not too bold, may I suggest a donation to The American Cancer Society instead. Then some good will have come out of this...

...Miss you guys already.
Michael

It still isn't clear whether Easton, Alderson or Howarth will show up on "One Life To Live." Production for new episodes of "One Life" is expected to begin this month with new shows airing on Hulu and iTunes later this Spring.
