Fans of “General Hospital” have been mourning the loss of Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) to “Young & the Restless” for months. Jason Morgan was a huge part of the show and several major story lines. While the writers never officially killed off Jason, they implied it by not finding his body after Faison shot him and he plunged into the water. According to a Dec. 21 report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the role of Jason Morgan may be recast. The report goes on to name Billy Miller as a possible replacement.
Some fans have been vocal about wanting the character back in Port Charles, whiles other only want Steve Burton back as Jason Morgan. Burton has made it clear that he left “General Hospital” because he wanted to spend more time at home in Tennessee with his family. Some fans have followed Burton to “Young & the Restless.” If the rumors are true and “General Hospital” writers are planning to recast the role, there will be plenty of unhappy fans. Billy Miller has already been replaced on “Y&R” and will only be airing until the beginning of January.
There have not been any hints or concrete evidence that the character of Jason Morgan will be returning to Port Charles, but it is a possibility at some point. Many fans will never accept anyone other than Steve Burton in the role and that will cause some backlash for the show. It looks like Port Charles may see Jason Morgan in the near future.
