Former “General Hospital” star Antonio Sabato Jr. has been selected to compete on “Dancing With the Stars” according to a report by E! News Tuesday. ABC does not comment on casting rumors, but sources told the entertainment news site that the former daytime hunk will be one of the stars showing of their dance moves this season.

The Italian-born actor is best known to “GH” fans for his role as Jagger Cates on both the 51-year-old soap and the primetime spinoff “The Night Shift.” He originated the role in 1992 and departed in 1995 when he drove off into the sunset on a motorcycle with new bride Karen Wexler. He then reprised the role in 2008 on “The Night Shift.”

Sabato Jr. may also be known for his 1990 appearance in the Janet Jackson video “Love Will Never Do (Without You). The ex-Calvin Klein underwear model also appeared on the prime time soap opera “Melrose Place” and then returned to daytime as Dante Damiano on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

His future appearances on “DWTS” will not the only place fans can see the former “GH” hunk. It was announced in July that Sabato Jr. will be the host of the new design show “Fix It and Finish It!” The series will feature Sabato with a team of contractors and designers in different cities giving makeovers to homes, including cabins and RVs. The series is set to air on various channels on September 8.

As to who else will join Sabato Jr. on the dance floor, the full cast will be announced on “Good Morning America” on September 4. Former pro dancer and two-time champion Julianne Hough will return to the show this season as a judge.
