Gene Wilder fans rejoice because he's going to be on TCM as a guest programmer. The actor and comedian will be on TCM on June 17 at 8 p.m. EST. He talks with TCM and picks four movies that are his favorites. Interestingly enough when you see the picks, most of them are dramas or mysteries.
Wilder picked four movies:
Mervyn LeRoy directed this movie about a woman, who discovers her husband is suffering from amnesia. Greer Garson, Ronald Colman, and Susan Peters starred in this 1942 drama.
Maurice Chevalier, Jeanette MacDonald, Una Merke starred in this musical that was directed by Ernst Lubitsch. It's about a prince from a small kingdom that courts a wealthy widow to keep her money in the country.
Billy Wilder directed Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, Charles Laughton, and Elsa Lanchester in this thriller that was based on Agatha Christie's play.
"Dark Victory," starred the great Bette Davis as a heiress, who learns that she has a brain tumor. Edmund Goulding directed the movie, and Ann King, Ronald Reagan, Humphrey Bogart, and George Brent all starred in this 1939 movie.
So those four movies were Gene Wilder's picks and once again this happens on TCM on June 17 at 8 p.m. EST.
