Even though Borderlands 2 is now over a year old, Gearbox Software still supports the popular loot-based shooter with DLC releases and by regularly gifting their fanbase with in-game gear from golden key redemptions. Now it looks like players can expect this level of support to continue as Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford confirmed on Nov 1 that there currently aren’t any plans to stop releasing new SHiFT codes in the near future.
After fans had stated that they had heard rumors that the developer would stop sending the codes, Pitchford simply responded, “that’s news to me,” in order to reassure gamers that both SHiFT codes and golden keys will keep coming.
Aside from special holiday gifts, such as the recent Halloween-themed skins, SHiFT codes will usually grant players a number of golden keys for use inside Borderlands 2 upon redemption. The next time a character is loaded, the keys will automatically be in a character’s inventory Golden keys are used as the only method in which the special loots chest, located within the central city of Sanctuary, may be opened.
Borderlands 2 is out now on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC/Mac.
