Grab your helmet and gloves – this coming Friday, March 28, is Bike to Work Day in West Palm Beach and to commemorate the event, the City has something special planned for people who work in the downtown area.
They’re invited to bike to work that day and visit a reception tent stationed at the corner of Clematis Street and Dixie Highway between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 am, where they can obtain information, win prizes and hob-knob with other biking commuters.
Hosting the event are the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization, the West Palm Beach Transportation Management Initiative, the Downtown Development Authority, and the West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability – all of whom hope to raise public consciousness about the city’s ongoing “Rethinking Paradise for a Green City” initiative.
Not only is biking to work good exercise for you and your coworkers that contributes to a healthier workforce and reduces absenteeism, but it also helps minimize vehicular traffic and air pollution.
