GCG schools anti-gay high school

Students at Chambersburg Area Senior High School were in dismay when the Chambersburg School Board denied their request to form an LGBT support group in their high school. The students reached out to the Global Conservation Group, a well known animal and human rights organization.

The GCG gladly helped and their lawyers mailed this letter to the school on behalf of the students:

"Chambersburg Area Senior High School

511 South Sixth St.
Chambersburg, PA. 17201

Dear CASHS Administration:
This letter serves as the formal notice of our intent to file a
lawsuit against Chambersburg Area Senior High School and the Chambersburg School District for denying the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance club. The law was violated by denying this club to form as clearly stated in the 1984 Federal Equal Access Act which requires high schools that allow other non-curricular clubs to form, must allow all requested non-curricular clubs to be formed. This law was also upheld by the United States Supreme Court.
If you wish to resolve this matter without court action, within 15 days, you must allow the Gay-Straight Alliance club to form at CASHS. If you fail to do so within a timely fashion, we will enact a class action lawsuit against your agency along with the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Human Rights Campaign.
Along with asking the court to enforce the Federal Equal Access Act in your school, we will also seek monetary damages from the emotional damage that you caused students along with all court costs.

Your prompt attention is appreciated,

Megan ********
