GCG responds to pit bull complaints

The Global Conservation Group has recently been inundated with various opinions from people around the globe in response to our recent action alert regarding the Pit bull ban in Watertown, Wisconsin.

The Global Conservation Group would like to place incredibly strong emphasis on the fact that we do not support the confiscation and termination of Pit bulls from owners who are responsible. Pit bulls are the most abused breed of dog, and we wholeheartedly believe that temporarily limiting the ability of people that have not been verified as responsible owners to acquire a Pit bull can help curb the abuse.

We do not want those individuals who currently own pit bulls in Watertown, WI to surrender them. We simply do not want any new ownership of pit bulls until we can get an Animal Abuse Registry initiated, which would strongly prohibit violent and abusive individuals from adopting animals.

As previously stated, Pits are by far more abused than any other breed of dog. Ergo, by eliminating the possibility of ownership of that breed, fewer animals will suffer. This is not a matter of breed-specific legislation, but simply a matter of ethics.

The Global Conservation Group is currently working to create an Animal Abuse Registry in numerous areas. But until this succeeds, we want to do everything that we possibly can to keep this breed out of the hands of abusers.
