GCG officially launches lawsuit against high school

The Global Conservation Group, along with the American Civil Liberties Union and Equality Pennsylvania are filing a lawsuit against Chambersburg Area Senior High School and the Chambersburg School Board after the three organizations gave the school 15 days to reverse their decision which banned a Gay-Straight Alliance club to form at their school.

Not only is their decision cruel to LGBT students, but it also violates federal law. Global Conservation Group attorney, Ms. Sylviski said "The law was violated by denying this club to form as clearly stated in the 1984 Federal Equal Access Act which requires high schools that allow other non-curricular clubs to form, must allow all requested non-curricular clubs to be formed. This law was also upheld by the United States Supreme Court."

Some of the other "non-circular" clubs that the school supported and created were the "Bible Club" and the "Fellowship of Christian Athletes."

The ACLU and GCG sent letters to the school district informing them of the federal laws in which they are violating, and warned them of legal trouble, but the school district has still not reversed it's decision to ban a Gay-Straight Alliance Club.
