GBC Music is replacing the old Lake City Music store on highway 198 and highway 334 in the heart of Gun Barrel City, in the Valero Plaza.
Owner Dino Perelli is a lifetime music veteran, originally from Las Vegas, who has been living and performing in the Cedar Creek lake area for about nine years now.
“After moving down here from Las Vegas, I was very disappointed in what clubs around the lake had to offer talent in the area”, Dino lamented.
No one seemed to give a hoot about production value. They would just clear away a section of floor space, or maybe build a small stage, add 3 or 4 colored spotlights to point at the band, and that was it!
“After spending over thirty years in Las Vegas and playing some of the best venues in the world, I saw an opportunity to create something special down here," said Dino.
That something special will come in the form of a small (75 seat) show room Dino is calling The Venue @ GBC Music. Not only will it contain a very large, wall to wall stage, but he is adding a whole array of professional stage lighting. He is also installing a high end professional sound system. There will be sound, video and light operators as well.
“My sound and video crew are both from Las Vegas and have over 50 years combined experience in the audio/video industry”, Dino said proudly. “William Johnson will be The Venue Manager and Paul Gilford will be the Assistant Manager. They know all about how to make talent look and sound right!"
To add the icing on the cake, Dino is installing a permanent, four camera video system with live switching, which will be used to stream video live on the Internet during the concerts they plan to produce.
The schedule of entertainment will be eclectic with everything from Pop and Rock, to Country, and even Comedians! On Saturdays, they will be hosting original music acts, mostly from Texas, who already have a CD out. Once a month they will have “Dinner & A Show” which will feature music, comedy and a buffet dinner catered by one of our local restaurants. On Fridays they will be featuring various “Tribute Bands” and other local bands.
The Venue @ GBC Music will carry a full line of adult beverages as well as a snack menu.
There is also a complete music store on the 4,000 sq ft premises that will have new and used instruments as well as a band rental program. They will also provide a musicians referral service and want to expand into commercial audio /video services including home theater design and installation. They will carry drums, guitars, keyboards, amps, PA gear and anything else musicians need, as well as a section with T-shirts and other apparel, including gifts designed for musicians!
Lane Clark, himself a musician and entrepreneur, will be managing the musical instrument side of the store for Dino.
As if that’s not enough, they also have a complete 24 track studio right there on the premises where you can record anything from a simple demo to a full blown album. They can do everything for you from start to finish. They can even supply you with professional session players, copies of your CD, artwork, photography, and even help with sales and distribution.
On April 6th, they are scheduled to have their Grand Opening with their first concert featuring two Texas regional country music acts, “August & J’ and “Sand Dollar Rodeo."
Their first Dinner & A Show on April 13th will feature “The Inner City All-Stars," a jazz, funk, pop, horn band, and Comedian “Tony Stone."
“If you are musically narrow minded, this probably isn’t the best place for you to attend regularly,… maybe just certain shows," Dino reflected, “but if you want a great night out, with professional entertainment of all different sorts, then you will want to come here every Friday & Saturday,” Dino smiled hopefully.
The venue is also available for private parties and even weddings.
