Dan Savage, the gay sex columnist who once told Bill Maher he wished all Republicans were "f*****g dead," went on a profane hate-filled rant, shredding Sarah Palin's book "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas," concluding with a wish that the former Alaska governor "choke on a cinnamon bun," Newsbusters reported Friday.

Newsbuster's Tim Graham observed that Savage didn't actually read the book.

"His anger management issues were too strong, and he reported he kept flinging the book across the room," Graham said.

"Sarah Palin is a s**t-talking pimp who makes money playing to the carefully cultivated persecution complexes of conservative Christian rubes who wouldn't know what religious persecution was if it sat on their faces and s**t in their mouths," he wrote, apparently borrowing language used by former MSNBC host Martin Bashir, who suggested someone defecate in Sarah Palin's mouth.

He went on to claim that gays have been persecuted for years, even burned at the stake. Savage, however, did not provide any instances of gays being burned at the stake in United States history.

He also made the strange claim -- again without providing any empirical evidence -- that conservatives have somehow made saying "Merry Christmas" toxic.

"Just as conservatives made patriotism toxic during the Vietnam War by conflating it with blind obedience to authority ('My country, right or wrong!'), modern conservatives have made 'merry Christmas' toxic by associating it with Christian fundamentalism, religious intolerance, and the politics of imagined persecution," he wrote.

Savage concluded his profane rant by saying: "So happy f*****g holidays to you, Sarah. I hope you choke on a cinnamon bun."

Of course, Dan Savage wouldn't be Dan Savage without the obligatory hate, profanity and veiled desire to see his ideological opponents dead.

Graham said Savage made the comments in mid-December at his Internet haunt. Unfortunately, the URL is so profane, we are unable to link to it here. It's to be expected, though, considering the source.

Newsbusters said it perhaps it was perhaps "best to get a polite distance from the Christmas season" before reviewing how “War on Christmas” books make some liberals "lose their marbles."

In February 2011, we first observed that liberalism, at its core, is an ideology of rage and hate. On practically any given day, liberals like Savage prove that assertion correct.
