It's not just Americans that get all silly about the concept of gay marriage. Even the Europeans are busy making fools of themselves in the streets over this issue. In France, there were protests over the weekend in Paris in opposition to a marriage equality law there. That is not to be confused with the pro-marriage equality march last month, that was happily attended by the French Socialist Party first Secretary Harlem Desir, who is pictured above.
Of course, the primary concern of the French isn't so much about the preservation of the sanctity of marriage. It is objections to gay couples getting the ability to adopt children. Yes, that is yet another bone of contention here in the U.S., but at least we have managed to hold onto a few scraps of our delusions about the value of traditional marriage. At least we don't have ads in our subways promoting adultery. Although, it could be argued that our tabloids in the supermarket check-out lanes aren't much better.
But, the French and their gay Paris marches have competition in Italy - or more accurately, in that tiny country within that nation - Vatican City. There we find feminists baring breasts in the name of gay marriage, of course! This is not a new behavior for these women. They had previously protested topless in March of last year, over the election of Vladimir Putin. If nothing else, that might have been one of the only times young women decided to strip for Putin's benefit - or something! At least American feminists show a small amount of class, by remaining fully clothed - even if it is in pink anatomically incorrect costumes!
