The owner of an American bulldog mix brought him to the animal shelter because he “didn’t want a gay dog." According to UPI.com, on Thursday Jan. 31, 2013, the owner saw him mount another male dog and deemed him “gay.”
The man didn’t want a dog that was gay, so the dog ended up in a shelter and was slated to be euthanized at 1 p.m. today. A Facebook page told his story and before long, the page had 4,200 shares and over 1,405 comments.
One person in particular read the dog’s story and decided to adopt the poor little guy. The Facebook page where this dog was featured belongs to a 39-year-old mother and animal lover. She often features unwanted dogs on her Facebook page, but this one was a bit different from the rest.
This dog didn’t hurt anyone or destroy property, the dog just did what came natural. Often male dogs will mount other male dogs to show dominance. It is in the dog’s nature, but this didn’t mean that the dog was gay. Even if he was, many would say that this was an horrific reason to throw away a pet!
The unwanted dog that was facing a death sentence was turned into the Jackson Rabies Control Animal Shelter in Tennessee by its apparently very uninformed former owner. Stephanie Fryns wrote on Facebook that she was going to adopt this unfortunate guy “first thing in the morning.” She also wrote that many people in the area were helping her with the cost of adopting this dog.
It seems that the Facebook post saved this poor pooch who wouldn’t have been on the earth another day thanks to his previous owner who apparently was a bit small minded. At the very least the person who discarded this dog didn’t understand the behavior of canines!
