According to the Huffington Post on Jan. 1, a gay wedding took place on a float during the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade even though there had been protests against it.

The couple, Aubrey Loots and Danny Leclair, exchanged vows in the first same-sex marriage during the Tournament of Roses Parade. Standing atop a giant wedding cake on the AIDS Healthcare Foundation float, the couple exchanged vows. Rev. Alfreda Lanoix of the Unity Fellowship Church of Christ officiated the ceremony.

The actual ceremony was not aired on NBC. Television viewers only saw the couple and the minister standing atop the float as it passed by during the last several minutes of the two-hour airing of the program. The hosts, Al Roker and Hoda Kotb said very little about the float as it passed in comparison to their reaction to other floats.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses officials said the float represents this year's parade theme, "Dreams Come True."

Loots and Leclair met 12 years ago. They own a small chain of hair salons.
