Every year the Charmcity Skatepark in Baltimore, Maryland hosts an all night skate and BMX jam. The action lasts from 9PM to 9AM. Like last year Gatorade chose to sponsor this event which meant plenty of free Gatorade schwag for all attendees. Also Gatorade was kind enough to put up some prize money for a few best trick contests.
Pasadena Maryland's Cameron Eader won the BMX Best Trick contest. There were a lot of talented BMX riders in attendance old and young, all rippers. But Cameron's Tuck No Hander to Can Can took home the prize money for this twelve year old, who was obviously up way past his bed time!
For the Skateboarders Gatorade held two best trick contests, but there was only one winner. Green Trucks rider Kyle Flegel won them both. One contest was held on Charmcity's new double set, a three flat three. The other was on the large mini-ramp. Kyle Flegel definitely knows his way around a mini-ramp. The first contest on the double set there was a ton of competition. Charmcity team rider Mike Marsh emerged as a front runner. He was on top of his game. Mike had multiple makes on and impressive list of bangers. His Hardflips were perfect and he made them multiple times. Flegel was also on and banged everything from Backsideflips to Bigflips. In the end the judges were deadlocked so it was decided that Flegel and Mike would race to a Backsideflip. A trick both of them had already done. Mike landed on his first attempt rode ten feet and fell off his board. The crowd was still screaming for Mike when Flegel threw down his board and landed a perfect backsideflip first try to win the contest. Right before the sun came up the action moved over to the mini-ramp. Flegel's main competition on the mini was from his fellow Charmcity rider Kyle Genung. Kyle Genung had cracked his board during the comp but still managed a bean plant to fakie off the wall. Kyle put multiple combo's together and showed absolutely no fear of the extsension. But once again Kyle Flegel was on fire. Flegel landed several tricks that would have won The Best Trick but his Nollie Full Cab Biggerspin was the clincher! - Jason Chapman National Skateboarding Examiner
