Let than 2 percent of American adults get the recommended amount of potassium (4700 milligrams a day), which can help lower blood pressure. Don’t count on a multivitamin for help!

Potassium is an important mineral with numerous functions in one’s body. Potassium is needed for healthy muscles and nerves and aids in bone health.

Unfortunately, Americans are falling short of their daily potassium needs. Fruits, vegetables, legumes, and low fat milk are all excellent sources of potassium.

Since one cannot rely on a multivitamin, one should consider taking spirulina. Spirulina has 10 times more potassium than most vegetables.

I prefer using spirulina from Now Foods. Six tablets is the amount one takes who weighs around 150 lbs. Take one tablet for every twenty pounds beyond 150 lbs or reduce the amount of spirulina if one weighs less. Check out this popular food source at www.iherb.com.
