Gatecrash spoilers: Creature thief of the underworld from GatheringMagic

It's a new week of Gatecrash previews, and the week's third-party spoilers promise to bring as much excitement as the main articles over on the mothership do. Tonight, GatheringMagic.com gives us a card that makes me giddy with joy; for a number of reasons, this is one of the coolest cards so far in the set to me. I'm not going to preface this with anything more: here's Lord of the Void.

As some of you may know, I've been a longtime poster on the MTGSalvation.com forums, and I use the handle void_nothing there. So whenever a card with "void" in its name comes out, people usually make jokes about how I somehow snuck it into the set design file. But in all honesty, this is one I'd be happy to take credit for. Demons are one of my favorite fatty creature types (right alongside the underappreciated Archons and Hydras), and I have a soft spot for 7/7s for some reason. Also, that combat damage ability is really awesome; Bribery effects are always badass, especially when they're repeatable and shave other potential threats off the top of your opponent's library to boot. They even gave him blue eyes in the art, just like yours truly.

I'm reminded of the previous set's black mythic, Necropolis Regent, by this card. The combination of a high mana cost, impressive stats, and a fun, explosive effect is sure to make Lord of the Void a favorite in Commander. It's far from a competitive card given how expensive it is to get on the battlefield, but I'm definitely going to enjoy running it on the casual table.

What do you think of this mind-messing, creature-controlling demon? Let me know in the comments.
