Gasparilla 2013 Part One: Air Invasion and Children's Parade (Photos)

Argh Matey! It’s that time of year when Jose Gaspar and his Pirates take over Tampa and we all celebrate Gasparilla.

The Gasparilla Air Invasion along with the Children’s Parade and the “Piratechnic” Extravaganza will all take place on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

IKEA’s Gasparilla Preschooler’s Stroll will start the day’s festivities at 1:30pm. The youngest members of the Tampa Bay Community will have their chance to be Pirates as they stroll down Bayshore Boulevard.

The Gasparilla Air Invasion will take place at 3:00pm. The Invasion will include a parachute jump by the US Special Operations Jump Team.

The Children’s Gasparilla Parade will take place from 3:30pm until 6:00pm. The parade route will begin at Bay to Bay and Bayshore Boulevard proceeding north on Bayshore Boulevard and concluding at Watrous/Orleans Avenues and Bayshore Boulevard. Hundreds of floats which will include local businesses as well as Krewes will travel down Bayshore Boulevard and of course throwing the ever so popular BEADS!!!!!

But, the evening isn’t over just yet! The Gasparilla “Piratechnic” Extravaganza will take place in the skies along Bayshore Boulevard. This show in the sky will represent the struggle between the City of Tampa officials and Jose Gaspar’s Pirates that will continue onto the next week.

While the Gasparilla Children’s Parade is a FREE event, reserved seating is available for purchase. Ticket prices vary and seating is limited and can be purchased online at the Official Event Website.
