“Clockwork Empires” comes from the same company responsible for the cult-favorite “Dungeons of Dredmor” and is a “steam punk colony-building catastrophe simulator,” according to Gaslamp Games.
During gameplay, players will control objects that will feed society’s need for progress, but could also lead to their undoing. The reality of your choices is a very serious one and leads the player to a litany of choices, according to Daniel Jacobsen, lead producer and CEO of independent developer Gaslamp Games.
“The player is essentially an architect of a society that’s gone a bit off the rails in an industrial revolution,” Jacobsen said in today’s press release. “The uniqueness of building this world inside the Empire is the ability of the player to do what they want, including the freedom to fail: we’ve given characters an incredibly intricate set of tools allowing them to construct a world and unleash cosmic horrors in vast, complex ways.”
