Gary Shirley and Amber Portwood are getting accustomed to the new routine of being co-parents.

For about a year and a half, Gary had been a single parent, as Amber served a portion of her five-year sentence, so when Amber was released in Nov. 2013, getting adjusted to a two parent system.

However, Gary remains the sole provider of Leah and tends to the everyday duties including taking her to school, activities, and getting her hair cut — which he did yesterday.

“Leah wants her hair cut! Deciding if we should get enough cut off to donate!” Gary tweeted to fans on Thurs., Feb. 27. “I gave [Leah] the choice she said yes! Hard deciding!”

A short time later, Gary debuted the first photo of Leah, whose hair used to be to her waist, with a short bob. In the caption, he wrote, “Still beautiful!”

It’s amazing that Leah would be so noble as to donate her hair — but she had plenty of it. In fact, this may have been one of her first haircuts, unless she was getting regular trims.

Either way, what she did was awesome and some little girl will surely appreciate her generosity.

Gary Shirley and Leah were recently seen on Being Amber, an MTV special based on Amber's post-prison life, but since the show was a one-episode only deal, fans have been left wanting more.
