But the Brooks and Yearwood marriage is as strong as ever reported Classicalite.com on December 27. But that was not always the case, as Brooks opens up about the duo that is included with his recently released “Blame It All On My Roots” boxed set. Despite a few recent rumors that the couple are headed for a split, Garth Brooks reassures fans, simply explaining that "The Call" was written about a rough patch the couple went through between 2002 and 2003.

"It's about that point in a relationship when you make the decision whether what you have is worth fighting for, or is it just easier to call it 'friends' and live life from there. Everybody goes through this; Miss Yearwood and I were in the middle of it in 2002-03."

Garth Brooks reveals that he and Trisha Yearwood made an effort to record “The Call” with a full band, but it just did not seem right. Instead the couple choose to record the song as performed during Brooks stint at the Wynn.

"We tried cutting this song with a full band but kept going back to the Wynn performance where it's just like two people talking to each other.”

Brooks announced early in December that he would begin touring again after almost a decade. The tour will span three years beginning in 2014.
