This morning, December 9, 2013, on Good Morning America, Garth Brooks confirmed in an interview with “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, the long-rumored Garth Brooks World Tour will indeed take place in 2014!
Garth appeared on the ABC program to promote his new box set Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades Of Influences, a six-disc set including covers, his greatest hits and a DVD of his Las Vegas show. The box set is available exclusively available at Walmart for just under $25. It was clear that he wasn’t just there for that promotion, but appeared like a man with a secret just ready to burst it out. “You know what, since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it. We’re going on a world tour in 2014." He added, “I can’t believe I just did that but you are a doll.”
Brooks topped off his three-year run of shows at the Wynn Las Vegas from 2009 to 2012 with his broadcast performance presented by GAC (Great American Country) Garth: One Artist, One City, One Night, a 90-minute music special which premiered Thanksgiving weekend, Friday November 23, 2007 at 8 p.m. ET. Garth also said that before their world tour, he plans to bring his full band back to the Wynn in January for two shows.
Brooks, the best-selling albums artist in the United States in the SoundScan era (tracking U.S. sales data in 1991,) announced his retirement from recording and performing in 2000. Amazing, how time flies! But after last week’s incredible and thrilling performance in Las Vegas, Nevada, we saw a completely energized and endearing 52 year old Garth. It gave Garth fans and new admirers- a fresh look at an inspiring, talented and funny Garth Brooks. .. and the lovely Trisha Yearwood or as Garth jokingly prefers to call her Ms. Yearwood. The performance was broadcast, the electricity in his performance was in the air. People knew that, yes of course he was promoting his new box set, but it made people watching want more.
Being an astute marketing major, this Examiner, knew Garth’s background was first in marketing. Garth’s sheer marketing genius set a perfect springboard to the first marketing tsunami of “I’m here, I’m back, bigger than ever, and wow, I am just so ready to spring a big announcement!” Spellbound by this Vegas performance, including duets with his wife, Trisha Yearwood Brooks, we all did want more. And, wow, has Garth delivered!
Garth Brooks, in the interview, said “It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring. All my babies are fine with it. Ms.Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood. Our baby is a senior in high school,” he said. “My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there…I’m a phone call dad now. ‘Hey Dad, I love you, can I borrow some money?’”
Brooks will also return to The Wynn in Las Vegas for two days of shows in January. Brooks says, "Wynn has allowed me to keep that room as a laboratory type of thing so I’m going to bring the band out there and let the band experience this room."
An official list of tour dates has not yet been released. A video clip of the announcement can be viewed at
