Last year, Wizards of the Coast released a small quantity of promotional Magic 2014 planeswalker cards - against glossy black backgrounds - for sale at San Diego Comic-Con. Some players were upset by the expense and exclusivity of them, but generally the consensus was that they were very cool so they sold like hotcakes. So naturally, they repeated the feat this year: ActionFigureFury reports that not only are the six Magic 2015 planeswalkers, in the same special frames, being sold in a gift set, so is a Nerf version of Garruk's axe.

Hasbro is coming to San Diego Comic-Con, as you should already know. They have already revealed a ton of exclusives of their own, but today USA Today announced the team up that everyone has been waiting for. Hasbro has teamed up with Wizards of the Coast to offer a SDCC 2014 exclusive Magic the Gathering NERF Garruk’s Axe card set.

If you don’t think that the NERF axe is pretty cool, the set also comes with six limited-edition alternate-art Planeswalkers cards illustrated by comic-book artist Jae Lee. He is going to be available for a signing sessions at the Hasbro booth during San Diego Comic-Con from 9-10 a.m. on July 26th.

Cards included in this exclusive set are “Garruk, Apex Predator”, “Ajani Steadfast”, “Jace, the Living Guildpact”, “Liliana Vess”, “Chandra Pyromaster”, and “Nissa, Worldwaker”.

If you are going to be heading to Comic-Con in a couple of weeks, you can find this set available in the HasbroToyShop booth for $110.99. Following the convention, a limited number of NERF/Magic the Gathering sets will be available on HasbroToyShop.com.

These will likely prove to be as popular as the previous set of SDCC planeswalker promos, and indicate that similar exclusives will be available in future years.
