Garrett Hedlund is being offered the role of Captain Hook in Joe Wright’s live-action adaptation of J.M Barrie’s Peter Pan.

According to reports Thursday from The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Warner Brothers has reportedly offered the role of the iconic Captain Hook to the actor.

Wright, best known for directing Pride & Prejudice (2005), Atonement (2007), and Anna Karenina (2012) is tapped to direct the film which centers on the origins of Pan and Hook’s friendship while working as members of the pirate crew on Blackbeard’s ship.

It is being rumored that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to star as Blackbeard, however there is no official confirmation.

As to who will play the boy who refuses to grow up is unknown, though sources say there will be an open casting call for the character of Peter Pan with the age ranging from 10 to 12 years old.

Pan is being penned by Jason Fuchs with Greg Berlanti producing, and Sarah Schechter overseeing for the studio.

Hedlund is known for his role as Sam Flynn in Tron: Legacy (2010), and played Dean Moriarty in Jack Kerouac’s film adaptation of On the Road (2012). He recently starred in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, and can next be seen Unbroken directed by Angelina Jolie.

Warner Bros. dated Pan's theatrical release for July 17, 2015.
