BANGOR-- Garet Beal has won a state championship, broke his fathers record for single game and career points at Jonesport-Beals high school.
On Friday evening, Beal was named Mr. Maine Basketball at the McDonald's all-star banquet at Husson University.
Beal captured the high school sports examiner's athlete of the week four times including twice this past season.
On January 24th, Beal scored 55 points in a victory over Woodland to break a school record previously set by his father, Lindell Beal.
On February 2nd, Beal scored 26 points in a victory over Vinalhaven. During that game, Beal passed his father as the career leader in points at Jonesport-Beals.
Beal will be attending the University of Maine starting this fall on a full basketball scholarship.
