Just prior to Super Bowl XLVII, a Baltimore furniture chain, Gardiners Furniture, informed its customers that if the Ravens returned a kickoff all the way for a touchdown in Sunday night’s game – that all furniture purchased between Jan. 31 and 3 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday would be free.
Gardiners really didn’t expect Baltimore Ravens’ Jacoby Jones to come out of the locker room after half-time and return a kickoff for 108 yards to open the third quarter of the game; but he did just that.
And now the store is in the process of giving away approximately $600,000 in furnishings according to The Baltimore Sun.
Co-owner of Gardiners, Mr. Gary Mullaney, said yesterday that his phone has been “ringing off the hook.”
"This morning has just been crazy."
"People are hearing about this all over the country."
"… beyond belief."
Don’t feel too bad for Gardiners or Mr. Mullaney though. The business-savvy furniture guy took out an insurance policy prior to the Super Bowl – just in case.
And although the policy cost Gardiners around $12,000, that’s a far cry from $600,000.
Mullaney went on to add that the advertising that’s come Gardiners’ way since Sunday night has been priceless.
So, if you purchased furniture at Gardiners between Jan. 31 and 3 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, check out their website to claim your free furniture.
