There's a lot going on at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival this year. You can take in a Flower Power concert, graze at the various marketplaces which all have new food and beverage offerings, and let the kids run around in the playgrounds, color, or spot butterflies. The whole family can focus on getting every spot in their free passport stamped to prove they did just about everything possible at the festival.
However, even though Walt Disney World has added many new offerings to the festival, it still comes down to two important things: the flowers and the gardens. Click the video toward the bottom of this article to hear from Festival Horticultural Manager Eric Darden and Chris Lambton of HGTV's "Going Yard."
Darden and Lambton were on hand to talk to the media during the festival's first weekend, and Lambton also gave presentations to the public in the Festival Center. Even though you can have a lot of fun at Epcot during the festival, it's also a great place to learn more about plants, flowers, and gardening. There are presentations throughout the event to help you become a better gardener, no matter what climate you come from.
The speakers include experts from places like the University of Florida and Harry P. Leu Gardens. Since HGTV is the festival sponsor, you can also catch HGTV and DIY celebrities on select days.
If you'd like to hear more about everything the festival has to offer, check out this video interview with Eric Darden. If you'd like some gardening tips directly from Chris Lambton, check out this video interview.
