Can't afford commercial garden fertilizers? Rather not douse plants with unknown chemicals? Plants need a pick me up? Here's several homemade fertilizers you can rely on to feed your garden plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables without a lot of hassle. Use ingredients you already have to fertilize your garden.

1. Use Homemade Epsom Salt Fertilizer. You can use Epsom Salt to fertilize booth roses and tomatoes. Mix a teaspoon of Epsom salts for each foot in height and a quart of water. Pour it onto the ground, near but away from the stem to give tomatoes and roses a boost of nutrition.

2. Use Eggshells as Homemade Fertilizer. Eggshells are full of calcium. Most people sprinkle them at the base of plants to add calcium to the soil. You can also chop eggshells in the blender with a bit of water. Pour the mixture around plants such as tomatoes that thrive on calcium.

3. Use Ammonia as Homemade Fertilizer. Ammonia is a quick source of nitrogen for ailing plants. Mix a teaspoon with a quart of water. Use as you would a commercial, nitrogen based fertilizer. This works especially well for corn and tomatoes.

4. Use Coffee as Homemade Fertilizer. Some people use coffee grounds as fertilizer, or as a compost ingredient. How about that extra cup of coffee nobody drinks that goes down the drain every morning. Don't throw it awy. Use it as homemade fertilizer instead.

5. Use Ashes as Homemade Fertilizer. Ashes from campfires or winter fireplaces can be used as fertilizer too. Simply keep a pile in the garden for addition to your soil. Ashes contain potassium, calcium and phosphorous. These are all natural fertilizers for your plants.
