Garden Grove's Globe Dine Bar holds Brewmaster Tasting Event March 6th

The Globe Dine Bar in Garden Grove will present their latest Brewmaster Tasting Event on March 6th. Starting at 6:30PM, they will pour from the tap Dupont Monk's Stout. This draft beer, brewed since the 1950's by Dupont Brasseries, will be presented by Cicerone Wendy Littlefield, co-founder of Vanberg & DeWulf Importers. Wendy is flying in the beer from Cooperstown, New York, along with the matched special signature glassware that the Globe Dine Bar's Michael Pauwatel insists is necessary to bring out the best in each beer he serves. Wendy an expert in fine beers and has just been nominated for the 2013 James Beard Award.

Monk’s Stout is nice and roasty, but soft on the palate and less bitter than most Irish or American stouts. Some subdued citrus tones such as orange peel hiding just underneath the surface. What really sets ‘Monk’s Stout’ apart from its counterparts is the Belgian yeast strain, which is lending those underlying fruit notes to the mix, as well balancing the slight roasted bitterness of the beer with a touch of richness. The Monk’s Stout is low in alcohol at only 5.2% ABV, but it is lush in character and more full in body. It is not sweet, exactly, but it is also not as dry as its Irish counterparts.
