Noah’s Kingdom Humane Society reminds all animal advocates that there will be a garage sale this Saturday, September 14, to benefit the Cat Care Coalition. The mission of the coalition is to provide spay and neuter services to help control the feline population in the greater Albany, NY area.
The sale will be at 11 Corlaer Street in Albany between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Noah's Kingdom Humane Society provides a low cost Spay & Neuter Program. The cost is $80.00 per cat and includes a feline leukemia, AIDS, heartworm test and the spaying or neutering of a cat. The spay and neuter clinic takes place once a month at the Animal Protective Foundation located at 53 Maple Avenue in Scotia, New York. An appointment is required. The mission of the Cat Care Coalition is to increase low cost spay/neuter capacity and to increase public education/ awareness of problems with cat overpopulation. The Coalition is not a rescue group, but a program designed to help low income Albany area residents get their pets tested for common diseases, vaccinated and altered at a very low cost.
Cat surgeries are only done on Sundays at Central Veterinary Hospital on Central Avenue in Albany. The basic price for cats is $65.00 and includes an exam, distemper and rabies vaccinations, and spay or neuter surgery. For an additional $15.00, cats can be tested for feline leukemia, AIDS, and heartworm.
Dog surgeries are done on weekdays at Aqueduct Animal Hospital in Schenectady. All dogs will receive an exam, a distemper vaccination, a rabies vaccination, and a heartworm test in addition to spay/neuter surgery. The charge for male dogs will be $80.00. For female dogs under 50 lbs., the charge will be $150.00. The charge for female dogs over 50 lbs. will be $210.00. Pain medication and flea treatment (if needed) are required, and will cost approximately $30.00. Pre surgery blood work is required for all dogs over the age of 7 at an additional charge.
For a one person household, the maximum annual income is $39,400. For each additional person, the maximum increases by $5650.00. If anyone in the household is on benefits such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance, SSI or SSD, the family is automatically eligible.
