Gap Inc. has announced today that they will close two distribution centers in Hebron, Ky. The company notified workers today that the closings will cost more than 300 jobs.
Currently, both facilities distribute merchandise to Gap stores nationally. The closings are projected to streamline operations by increasing speed and efficiency.
Both facilities are located on Global Way and will close in June. The company will begin phasing out its employees in April.
The Gap opened its first distribution center in Northern Kentucky in 1975.
The company will try to make the transition a smooth one and help employees find other employment opportunities.
By notifying employees today of impending job losses, it will give workers extra time to find other jobs. Some employees may remain with the company if they relocate.
