Gamescom 2014: The week in gaming news

It’s been a heck of a week for video games in Germany at Gamescom. The beauty of Gamescom is that it’s open to the public unlike E3. However, there seemed to be a lack of an impact and spectacle regarding news this week, which is E3’s strong point. Despite this there was still plenty to cover so let’s get through what was announced in this special wrap up of Gamescom news.

  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd will release on November 18 for the PS3 and PS Vita
  • The developers behind Remember Me are teaming upon with Square Enix to make an episodic story driven game called Life is Strange for the PS3/PS4/360/One/PC
  • Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro are teaming up to make a Silent Hill game, Silent Hills, which will star The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus
  • Meta Knight has been confirmed for the new Super Smash Bros along with an exclusive new 3DS bundle featuring the cast of the game on the portable
  • According to the Hyrule Warriors art book, there were plans to introduce a female Link in the game: Linkle
  • To celebrate the Game Boy’s 25th Anniversary, a group of indie developers got together and created hundreds of prototype games based on the Game Boy’s specs, Game Boy Jam, and the demos are free online
  • Azure Striker Gunvolt will launch on the 3DS on August 29
