Gamers have started a petition on Change.org for Electronic Arts to finish the production of Star Wars 1313. After Disney acquired LucasArts in 2013, all employees were laid off and the company was shut down, thus cancelling all current projects. This included games such as Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault.
Then on May 6th, 2013, Electronic Arts revealed in a press release that they signed a multi-year agreement with Disney to have the rights to develop and publish Star Wars games.
EA Labels President Frank Gibeau stated in the press release:
“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe.”
However, since this agreement has been made, production of Star Wars 1313 has not taken off. IGN recently revealed that if Star Wars 1313 would have happened, Boba Fett would have been the star.
Several petitions have already been attempted on Change.org in the past, but one in particular is beginning to pick up some steam.
At the time of this writing, over 5,200 gamers have petitioned to bring back Star Wars 1313.
The petition states:
"At E3 2012 Lucasarts wowed us with a demo of Star Wars 1313. Gamers around the world were blown away with 1313. We could finally play a gritty dirty Star Wars game as a bounty hunter on Coruscant. After Lucasarts was disbanded and the Star Wars game licenses were purchased by EA, the game was then cancelled. But recently new concept art and story information about 1313 was released and now this game sounds better than ever. Please help get this amazing game finished by signing this petition."
Whether or not a petition like this will work, the interest is definitely still alive for Star Wars 1313.
