For the PC gamer on your holiday shopping list you might think of gifting them a new game. Hot new titles can be expensive instead think of getting friends and family some indie or retro games. They might not be on their list but a welcome surprise for the PC gamer.

In an age of digital downloads it can leave gift giving feeling a bit lackluster. Don’t pass up downloads of games this holiday season just because you can’t put a bow on it. Get a flash drive and download the game onto it, that way you’ve got something to wrap! (Check out the slideshow for awesome flash drives you can use.) Pressed for time? You can always write down the game’s installation key and/or other pertinent info down in a thoughtful card.

Looking to be charitable with your gift giving this year? Look into the Humble Bundle for an affordable selection of downloadable PC games. Proceeds from the Humble Bundle go towards charities like Child’s Play, Watsi and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The bundles are pay-what-you-want and there’s always a new bundle available as well as a weekly sale starting every Thursday.

The current Weekly Sale is offering “Zeno Clash”, “Dwarves?!”, “Killing Floor”, “Rock of Ages” and “Rising Storm”. The bundles usually come with soundtracks too. The current Humble Bundle is a Jumbo Bundle offering nine great games and soundtracks. pay-what-you-want for games like “Orcs Must Die”, “Natural Selection”, “Magicka”, “Garry’s Mod” and more.

To download the right game for the gamer in your life you can go directly to the company’s website. Whether you want to share the humorous fun of a retro-esque PixelJam game or DLC for a triple A title you can find it online. Download it onto a well-picked drive and you’ve got a thoughtful gift perfect for the PC gamer in your life.
