Gameday Preview: 2/10 Vs Edmonton

Tonight the Swarm take on the Rush of Edmonton, at the Xcel Energy Center, at 7:30pm (CT). Both teams are in dire need of a "W", tonight.

The Swarm (1-2) are returning home, for the first game of a three game home stand, after a tough road loss, at Rochester, last weekend. The Swarm are led by their 4 All-Stars, Andrew Suitor, Jordan MacIntosh, Ryan Benesch and Callum Crawford. Crawford leads the team in assists (16) and points (23). Ryan Benesch leads the teams in goals (10) and shots on goal (25). Benesch is also 2nd on the team in assists (12) and points (22). MacIntosh is currently 4th in the NLL, and 1st on the team, in faceoffs won, with 54. He is also 1st on the team in ground balls, with 30. Suitor is the team's 2012 captain and is putting up great numbers, too. Tyler Carlson expected to, once again, start in net for the Swarm. Carlson is currently 1-1, with a 13.5 goals against average and a save percentage of .740, in 2 starts. He has also posted 77 saves on 104 shots faced, giving up 27 goals.

The Rush are also 1-2, heading into tonight's match up, including 1-1 on the road. Their one win came at Washington, with both losses being against Colorado. For more information on the Rush, read this scouting report. 

The Swarm will win if:

  • They can get a solid performance from Tyler Carlson.
  • They can score early, getting into Aaron Bold's head.
  • They can wear down the solid Edmonton defense, late in the game.

The Rush will win if:

  • They can take an early lead, taking the crowd at "The Hive" out of the game.
  • They can expose the Swarm's Porous defense, in the 2nd half.
  • They can keep their energy high.

Prediction: This is a game that both teams need to win, desperately. Both team will come out energetic and giving full effort. The game will be close the whole game, and should be low scoring, coming down to one defensive lapse and goal, late in the 4th. Swarm 8 Rush 7.
