The Rochester Knighthawks (1-3) will face the Philadelphia Wings (2-2) at Wells Fargo Center this afternoon. It is the first of a three game series between the two teams this season and a game that the Knighthawks really, really want to win.
Last time Rochester played Philly was in the first round of the 2012 playoffs and the Knighthawks squeaked out a 14-13 victory despite the Wings scoring seven goals in the fourth quarter. Rochester was a perfect 4-0 against Philadelphia last year so although they have been struggling recently, the K-Hawks actually look like favorites to win this one.
It'll be the first time the two teams have played each other since the blockbuster trade that sent the Dawson brothers to Rochester in exchange for Jordan Hall, Paul Rabil, Joel White, and Rob Campbell. Dan Dawson actually hasn't done a lot for the Knighthawks thus far (he's averaging just 2.75 points per game) but it will be interesting to see if he finds a bit more success against his former team. Knighthawks fans are waiting for Dangerous Dan to put up the huge numbers he is known for and what better game to turn things around than against Philadelphia?
With a win today, the Rochester Knighthawks would move into third place in the East division - a good start for the struggling defending champs. Rochester actually plays back-to-back games this weekend and would then have a shot at moving up to second with a win against the Buffalo Bandits tomorrow night. But let's take things one step at a time.
The game against Philadelphia starts at an early 11:00 a.m. Both of Rochester's games this weekend will be broadcast live via YouTube on The Lacrosse Network. Fans can also listen to them on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
