According to reports, on New Year's Eve the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were heading to see in New Year's Day with their parents and in-laws in Balmoral. This morning, “The Mail” reports that actually, they partied with Pippa Middleton. Miss Middleton threw an impressive party at the family home in Berkshire, hiding 100 guests in a king-sized “reindeer herders'” teepee.
Officially speaking, the “kata” is a traditional Lapland tent, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spotted in the gardens, playing with the Middletons' dogs. The man-made, hot-trend tent reportedly cost around £3,000 to rent, and was reportedly described by guests as a “canvas palace.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry took the plunge into 2012 in Switzerland with “close friends” that apparently included Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, his cousins.
Something about the reports seems a little off, since it seems odd that the Middleton parents would be guests of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall in Scotland without their children present; this writer's best guess is that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will still make an appearance in Aberdeenshire this season, and that William and Kate are starting to become adept at diverting press attention. The Wills and Kate game is on for 2012, apparently.
