The Winnipeg Jets are squaring off this evening with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and while the focus inevitably will be on the this being a rematch of the teams' battle from earlier in the season, the substory to really follow tonight will be that of Eric Tangradi.
Tangradi was acquired by Winnipeg just two days ago in a trade with the same Penguins they face tonight. With no points in five games earlier in the season, the Jets newest acquisition, who will be wearing number 27, invariably has a bit of retribution on his mind.
This will also be Sidney Crosby's second visit to Winnipeg following the first appearance earlier this year. Crosby, who was showered with chants of "Mario's Poolboy" by the Jets faithful, lit up the team for two goals in that contest. Crosby's form is as good as it has ever been and the Winnipeggers in attendance are in for a treat.
The Jets aren't exactly skating free though, and there's bound to be a sense of urgency. The team lost Alexei Ponikarovsky and you have to believe more roster moves will be made if the team doesn't shape up shortly.
The Penguins, meanwhile, are riding a bit higher in the saddle, just one point behind New Jersey for the Atlantic Division lead.
The action kicks off just minutes from now and is available nationwide on CBC.
