'Game of Thrones' synopsis and spoilers for 'The Lion and the Rose'

On Tuesday, April 1 Wetpaint Entertainment posted the synopsis and spoilers for "The Lion and the Rose," the upcoming second episode of the fourth season of "Game of Thrones," the medieval fantasy drama on HBO. The official synopsis for the episode is listed below:

Entertainment Weekly

Tyrion lends Jaime a hand. Joffrey and Margaery host a breakfast. At Dragonstone, Stannis loses patience with Davos. Ramsay finds a purpose for his pet. North of the Wall, Bran sees where they must go.

Fans of the book series know that the title of the episode reveals major spoilers, since it references King Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell. The episode is expected to feature the royal wedding between the two, which George R. R. Martin has describes as being very true to the books and a major focus on the episode.

Known as the Purple Wedding, the event will be the first major gathering of season four and the first since the Red Wedding. However, it's unlikely everyone will make it through the wedding day unscathed. The synopsis hints that the pair will host a breakfast, which could lead up to the big day. The episode also explains more about the reason for Bran's journey north of the Wall.

Jaime and Tyrion seem to be getting along now that Jamie is back in King's Landing, and he needs Tyrion's help now that he is adjusting to having a gold hand. Theon is still being tortured by Ramsey, and it now has a useful purpose in the coming war in Westeros. Stannis is still trying to find a way to attack King's Landing after his first failed attempt.

"Game of Thrones" will return with its fourth season on Sunday, April 6 at 9 p.m. on HBO. The second episode was directed by Alex Graves and written by George R. R. Martin, the author of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book trilogy. Martin continues the tradition of writing at least one episode of the series since season one. The ten episode season will wrap up in June.
