"Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner adopted the dog who played Lady, the direwolf belonging to her character Sansa Stark on the HBO series, the actress revealed in an interview with the Coventry Telegraph that was released on Friday (Aug. 16).
The 17-year-old formed a bond with the dog, whose real name is Zunni, while filming on the set of "GoT" When Lady was killed off the show during the first season, Turner decided to step in and provide her with a new home.
"Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one," she told the English newspaper. "We kind of fell in love with my character’s direwolf, Lady, on set. We knew Lady died and they wanted to re home her. My mum persuaded them to let us adopt her."
Turner and the rest of the "Game of Thrones" cast are currently filming Season 4, which premieres in spring 2014.
Her upcoming roles include the TV movie "The Thirteenth Tale," adapted from Diane Setterfield's best-selling British novel of the same name. It co-stars Olivia Coleman ("Broadchurch") and Vanessa Redgrave. She also stars in the indie film "Panda Eyes" alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers ("The Tudors"), Claire Forlani and Rhys Ifans ("Notting Hill").
