'Game of Thrones' sneak peek for season 4, episode 2 'The Lion and the Rose'

On Sunday, April 6 Wetpaint Entertainment posted a sneak peek for "The Lion and the Rose," the upcoming second episode of the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" which features the royal wedding between Margaery Tyrell and King Joffrey Baratheon.

'Game of Thrones' poster

The event, known as the Purple Wedding, is one of the major events in the book series by George R.R. Martin and is changes the future of King's Landing and Westeros forever. The wedding comes just two episodes after the infamous Red Wedding, which claimed the lives of Robb and Catelyn Stark.

The thirty second preview opened with aerial footage of the wedding with everyone gathered while Joffrey and Margaery are walking up to the priest. Sansa and the rest of the Lannisters seem uneasy at the wedding, while Joffrey smiles. Tyrion later gives a toast for the Lannister family, calling himself the dwarf, Jaime the cripple and Cersei the mother of madness.

Joffrey is shown celebrating with his new sword, including slashing it towards people. He lashes out at Tyrion and wants him to kneel before the king. North of the Wall, Bran finds a tress that helps him see what he needs to do. Across the sea, Stannis prepares to take King's Landing again with the help of the Red Witch.

Ramsay Snow continues to play with Theon, who has been tortured since last season. There are several shots of Tywin, Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime and other characters standing near the camera and looking back or talking to other characters. The final shot is the shadow of a dragon flying over a city.

"The Lion and the Rose" will air on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. on HBO. Tune in to find out what happens at the Purple Wedding and how similar the story line will be to the books. The rest of the ten episode season will contain significant events and will not be building to an intense season finale, according to the executive producers. The fourth season is expected to finish airing in June.
