'Game of Thrones' season 4 official trailer released

On Sunday, January 12 Comingsoon.net posted the official trailer for the upcoming fourth season of "Game of Thrones," the HBO television drama based on the book series by George R.R. Martin. The new season will follow the events of the second half of "A Storm of Swords," the third book in the series. The new trailer teases new characters, more drama and more fighting.

The nearly two minute trailer hints change is coming to King's Landing, as new characters arrive from the land of Dorne. King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell get married, which is better known as the Purple Wedding, and the scenes were some of the first filmed for the new season. Joffrey also tells Jamie that he won the war for the people of Westeros and they love him for it.

Meanwhile in Essos, Daenerys is still growing her army and learning that there is good and evil on both sides in a war. She adjusts to sitting on a throne while her dragons fly free and keep the cities in line. She is bringing a new world to the people and anyone who disagrees will be put to death.

Jon Snow seems to have recovered form his injuries and warns the men at the Wall about the attack from the wildlings. They are shown attacking villages while the Crows prepare for a fight near the Wall. Prince Oberyn Martell, The Red Viper, will be introduced this season and cause some trouble for the Lannister clan. Tyrion remains locked up put is sought after by Oberyn for information.

Melisandre continues to use her magic to help Stannis Baratheon achieve the throne while Arya begins her new life on her own. Theon Greyjoy and Asha Greyjoy seems to team up in the Iron Islands and deal with the fall out of Winterfell. Bran finds answers north of the Wall.

"Game of Thrones" will return on Sunday, April 6 at 9 p.m. on HBO. Tune in to meet the new characters and find out which story lines from the books are included in the new season.
