“Game of Thrones” Season 4 is barely in the bag and we are already looking eagerly forward to Season 5. The shocking death in the season finale was one that caused rejoicing but where it takes the show from here in terms of the Lannister family is anybody’s guess. On June 23, International Business Times ventured some guesses on what might lie ahead for Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion as well as the other inhabitants of Westros. If you haven’t seen the Season 4 finale, be warned there are spoilers ahead.
Tyrion Lannister had spent the majority of the season defending himself against allegations that he murdered his nephew, King Joffrey. Sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit, fans were overjoyed when he managed to escape his death order. Before leaving King’s Landing, however, he had one more order of business – killing his father, Tywin Lannister himself.
In Season 5 of “Game of Thrones,” Tyrion will be out on his own, looking for allies to help take down Cersei. Though the season is said to be based on ‘A Feast for Crows’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons,’ books 4 and 5 of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire,’ there is no telling just how the adaptation will play out.
Cersei is apt to grow stronger in her capacity as regent for her son and now king, Tommen. Though Jaime is there in King’s Landing, too, his presence will likely have little effect on controlling Cersei or seeing to the needs of the people. If anything, Cersei’s rule will have a negative effect on everything, including the power Margaery and Olenna Tyrell currently have.
As misery mounts, the people of Westros may strike up arms. Many knights will be joining the army of Poor Fellows which in turn will boost devotions among the Faith of the Seven. If The Faith joins with the High Sparrow, the resulting militants could pose a particular threat to the rulers of Westros, including those in King’s Landing. How Cersei fares if a battle ensues will be one of the highlights of the season.
