Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” promises all sort of excitement. Matt Carter talked about a new addition to the cast of characters on Jan. 25, The Red Viper. Queue the shocked ‘ooohs’ now. The Red Viper also goes by the name Oberyn Martell and is said to figure prominently in the world of Westeros.

Pedro Pascal has undertaken the role and appeared with the cast at the SAG Awards earlier this month. Though he wasn’t part of the season 3 cast, he did talk a little about what we can expect from the Red Viper in season 4:

“He is a prince who doesn’t play by the rules. He comes from the land of Dorne to King’s Landing to mix things up, and he has a pretty specific agenda. He doesn’t care what people think, and also doesn’t think what consequence [he might bring] … He doesn’t give a s***.”

He can be seen in the first HBO trailer for the upcoming season but only is short glimpses. It is probable we will see more of him in the HBO special promotional video that will air on Feb.9. Though it is part recap and part new footage, with fifteen minutes of film, fans should get to see a little more of the Red Viper and what he’s all about.

What do you think of the idea of Pedro Pascal as the Red Viper? Are you anxious to see what trouble this character will bring to Westeros? The show returns in April 2014. Keep checking back here for more news, updates and spoilers as we get them.
