It's been nearly a year since the three season of "Game of Thrones," and there will be many changes for the fourth season which will begin airing in early 2014. On Wednesday, January 8 Wetpaint Entertainment posted several spoilers for the upcoming season, including new cast members and information about season five.
The ten episode fourth season will feature the Purple Wedding, which is the marriage between King Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell which will change the future of Westeros forever. Meanwhile in Essos, Daenerys Targaryen is still gaining power with her dragons and will find love with Daario. The character of Daario was previously played by actor Ed Skrien, who parted ways with the series and was replaced by "Nashville" actor Michiel Huisman. The character was also upgraded to a series regular for season five.
Author George R.R. Martin is hard at work writing the next book and has admitted he needs to pick up the pace before the television series catches up. The show does not follow the books exactly, since many characters have to be left out and story lines changed so everything still makes sense. The fourth season will air in the spring of 2014 and the fifth season will begin filming around the summer at different places around the globe.
The fourth season will also be introducing a bunch of new characters from the city of Dorne. Ellaria Sand, portrayed by actress Indira Varma, is the lover of Oberyn Martell who is the prince. Martell will be played by actor Pedro Pascal. The new city and characters will appear on the series when they visit King's Landing for the Purple Wedding. The fourth season of "Game of Thrones" will start airing on Sunday, April 6 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
