The highly anticipated wedding of King Joffrey to Margaery Baratheon is about to unfold on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” “The Lion and the Rose” promo for the episode, 4x02, which Spoiler TV shared on April 7, depicts all the grandeur and suspense you might expect from Joffrey’s wedding.
As the promo begins, Joffrey and Margaery are walking down the aisle with hundreds of guests in attendance. In a voice over, Tyrion makes a toast:
“A toast, to the power of the Lannister children, the cripple, the dwarf and the mother of madness.”
Jaime is seen in a couple of clips wielding a sword in his left hand. He is at the seaside and it is unclear if he is being attacked or if he is merely practicing with his weaker left arm.
Cersei is seen bestowing kisses on Margaery, probably after the ceremony to welcome her to the family.
Joffrey struts in his usual arrogant manner, holding a sword as he paces before an oversized cake.
Varys says to Tyrion, “Have you ever known your father to make an idle threat?” as sinister music plays.
Bran says he knows where they have to go. Then he touches a rough-hewn wall, closes his eyes and seems to have one of his visions though we can’t see what it is yet.
Next, there are scenes of a fire and Melisandre says to someone off camera, “there is only one hell, the one we live in now.”
After witnessing Joffrey and Margaery kiss, Sansa bemoans, “We have a new queen.” She couldn’t look more disturbed by the thought.
Joffrey is raging at Tyrion again, this time ordering him to kneel.
“The Lion and the Rose” promises to be an exciting episode. It will air Sunday, April 13 on HBO when “Game of Thrones” returns.
