‘Game of Throne’s’ goblets of beer? (Video)

The wildly popular medieval fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” is creating yet another reason to throw a beer party. Just as the March 31 season premiere is about to bestow itself upon us, Brewery Ommegang’s “Game of Throne’s”-themed beer Iron Throne Blonde Ale will be making its way across the U.S. in the next couple of weeks, reported The Daily Meal yesterday.

The beer is created in a partnership between HBO and Brewery Ommegang, Copperstown, N.Y., and is the first in a series. Allison Capozza, who manages publicity for the brewery, told TODAY.com; “Iron Throne was named as a nod to the blonde Lannister family currently occupying the throne.” The beer is a 6.5 percent alcohol-by-volume Belgian blonde ale brewed with grains of paradise and lemon peel. Iron Throne should be available in the 43 states where Ommegang beers are sold by the end of March.

Besides the obvious “Game of Thronesdrinking game, Entertainment Weekly suggests some other fun themed ideas to include in a party such as the appetizer the “imp shrimp cocktail,” or “Ned Stark Cake Pops” (there are toothpicks involved-you probably get the picture). So get creative and celebrate by throwing your very own “Game of Thrones” viewing party. Click here to find the nearest location of Brewery Ommegang retailers to you.
