Game notes: Texans at Jaguars

A few Turkey Day game notes for the Texans and Jaguars as we head into NFL Week 12 play:

  • The Jaguars plan to ask the NFL for a 48-hour extension until 1 p.m. Saturday to sell enough non-premium tickets to avoid a TV blackout for Sunday’s game against theTexans. Macky Weaver, the team's senior vice president/sales and marketing, said the Jags will be helped by the fact that it's military appreciation day and about 6,000 service men and women will attend the game on tickets donated by local businesses and individuals.  (Stellino/Florida Times-Union)
  • The Texans - Jags game is the CBS#2 early game and will be seen in all Texas televsion markets.... and Nashville. (the506.com)
  • Injuries have hit the Jaguars hard recently, especially on defense.  Starting linebacker Clint Session was the latest casualty being placed on IR this week after suffering his second concussion of the season last week.  The Jags lost starting defensive back Rashean Mathis for the season two weeks ago. DT Terrance Knighton (ankle), and DE Matt Roth (concussion) did not practice Wednesday so keep your eyes on those names on upcoming injury reports.  FRIDAY UPDATE:  The Jags have placed CB Derek Cox on injured reserve and both Terrance Knighton and Matt Roth have been ruled out. Aaron Kampman is questionable. (AP)
  • The Jags have only five linebackers on their roster and one of them (former Texan Kevin Bentley) was signed two days ago.  Bentley last saw action during the preseason when he was with San Diego.
  • Jags center Brad Meester is about to become the franchise’s all-time leader in games played with 172, breaking the current team record held by Jimmy Smith. (Ganguli/Florida Times-Union)
  • The Jaguars are 31st in the NFL in scoring, averaging only 12.5 points per game.  Only the Saint Louis Rams are worse.
  • Texans fullback Lawrence Vickers didn't practice Wednesday (hamstring) so keep your eye on his status as we head into the weekend. (nflmedia)
  • New Texans backup QB Kellen Clemens was making breakfast for his kids when he got the call  (Scurfield)
  • Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he liked Clemens' workout and the fact that he knows some of the Texans offensive terminology (from being in Redskins' camp earlier this year).  "Well, he knows our terminology," said Kubiak.  "I liked his workout, to be honest with you.  I think he can catch up quicker than anybody that we worked out."
  • Clemens hasn't seen signigicant regular season action since he got a spot start during Week 14 of the 2009 season.
  • Vegasinsider.com has the Texans as 3 1/2 point favorites with a low over/under of 37 1/2.
